I am saddened by the idea that this quote has been misinterpreted. I think it is a beautiful quote that expresses the sense of responsibility, duty, and respect that the military should have for the men and women they are ordering to fight. It also speaks to the idea that those who serve in the military understand that they are there to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
